Pisces New Moon with its upcoming companion Full Moon in Virgo essentially ends the Sun cycle for the year before Vernal Equinox, when the Sun enters the 0º Aries point renewing the cycle again with the rising energies of spring. Pisces is also ruler of the 12th and last house of the zodiac – culmination – the house that holds mystery and Spirit. Where does one turn after journeying through all the other facets of material life symbolized by the houses? To the spiritual aspects of life, to surrender, to union with the divine, to transcendence and compassion.
With Neptune, the major outer planet that rules Pisces, having just moved into its own sign where it will be for the next 14 years, it’s helpful to broaden our understanding of what Pisces represents in the zodiac. Neptune has a long cycle and hasn’t been in its own sign for 164 years.

Honor, Blessings and Respect to the Winter Solstice.
The point of power that anchors the year – for the Northern hemisphere, the first day of Winter – for the Southern hemisphere – the opposite, the first day of Summer. From the Sun’s maximum at Summer Solstice until now, the Sun has decreased until reaching its point of maximum contraction – the ultimate out breath, the shortest day. The Solstice point, December 21/22, marks the death and rebirth of the Masculine principle of the light. With the dawning of the Solstice, the Sun enters 0º Capricorn, cardinal earth sign, and the Sun again begins its slow ascendancy into fullness on the Summer Solstice.

We’ve been mailed an eclipse package. It arrived with the New Moon Solar Eclipse on Nov. 24, Thanksgiving Day USA, and now is coming into full expression with the Gemini Full Moon paired with a total Lunar Eclipse. Moving into the Solstice period is the frosting on the 3-layer cake.

With a Full Moon, light is shed on the birth point of the New Moon two weeks prior. The Moon is 180º from the Sun – in opposition and we can find ourselves in an either-or situation. One side can be projected outward so we can view the issues as if they were external to us. Awareness is greatly increased and often manifested through relationships. We find ourselves sitting on the fence or there is a see saw quality that supports seeing both sides of a situation.

When you are summoned into the dark, wet cave of the deepest parts of yourself, who do you call out for? You call on the forces of Scorpio and Pluto, Scorpio’s ruling planet, to guide you and protect you. You imagine the allies of death and rebirth – the scorpion, the eagle and the phoenix as your guides, guardians and wisdom keepers. All three engage the forces of transformation that Scorpio/Pluto embody in the mysteries of sex, death, and rebirth. The solitary, nocturnal scorpion takes us to our passion. When we engage in the sexual dance with another, both are transformed. Whether the encounters with our desires are chaotic or powerfully transformative depends on our ability to channel and direct our power appropriately. The high-flying eagle is our link to Spirit when we have become confused by the illusory nature of the material world and lost our connection to true power. Eagle gives us courage to soar above our small self and the objectivity to sort out the negative voices of ego and to listen to the positive, loving and supportive voice of Spirit. The vision of the eagle supports us. The mythical phoenix, a spirit bird of great beauty and longevity known to most ancient cultures – Egypt, Assyria, Arabia, Greece, China, Japan, Native Americans – and always associated with the Sun, rises from the flames of its own death and is reborn anew.
