Sun in Cancer opposite Moon in Capricorn ~ 12º, Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at 11:53 AM PDT, 6:53 PM Greenwich Mean Time, GMT

This fat summer Moon in Cancer/Capricorn holds multiple powerful forms of sacred geometry that tend to turn up the dial on activity, symbolic experiences, big changes.  Here’s a chart that has such a panoply of energy!  Grand Trine (ease and grace), two T-Squares (challenging crisis), Thor’s Hammer (stressful and dynamic), and a Finger of God (creative spiritual sensitivity).
The Sun has moved into nurturing, Moon-ruled Cancer at the Summer Solstice and now we bask in her container of fertility and growth supported by the Sun’s longest rays.

The Moon reaches fullness in Capricorn that lends its Saturn-ruled influence to the chart.  Earthy Capricorn, symbolized by the sure-footed goat aspiring to greater heights on the mountain of physical reality, urges us to ‘show up’ for ourselves and the larger community and take responsibility for creating what we want.  Saturn is our Teacher, Tester and Keeper of Time (Chronos) who makes us leaner and wiser with constant trials that strengthen our backbones and discipline us for the long haul.  Under Capricorn’s influence, we gain integrity, channel our ambition, persevere, value stability, get organized, become competent and concentrate on building for the long haul.  Capricornians’ voices are calm and their image is conservative. They tend to be administrators and CEOs.  They honor their commitments and are determined, industrious and build structure.  That’s why they rule the skeleton, bones, teeth, joints, and particularly the knees.  The bones and hard structures of the body are where we hold our oldest, deepest patterns:  broken bones/teeth ~ breaking patterns; achy bones ~ holding on to patterns; soft baby bones ~ no pattern build up.

Saturn that rules this Capricorn Full Moon chart is well placed and exalted in Libra.  Its only aspect is as apex planet for a configuration called Thor’s Hammer or God’s Fist (a triangle formed by two planets at 90º in 135º aspect to a third planet-in this case, Saturn).  Saturn has to find a way to wield the dynamic power and stress of the square between Chiron and South Node/Jupiter.  You need a good focus for all this energy or it can knock you in the head.  Don’t be tempted to lie around in your own puddle.  Chiron is where psychologically scarring experiences reside that we engage over a long period of time to resolve and heal, and then we are able to reach out and offer wisdom and help to others from the gut-level learning that we have digested and mastered.

South node has some of that same flavor in that this can be the unresolved issues from previous experiences or lifetimes that we have brought into this time frame to resolve.  We are talking about collective spiritual growth here coming to us through our personal lives.  South Node in Gemini is exactly conjunct Jupiter on this day.  The North/South Nodes visit each sign axis for about 18 months once every 18 years or so.  So for the last 18 months, we have had the opportunity for exploring the Gemini/south node and Sagittarius/north node axis.  Gemini bringing to the foreground the way we perceive the world we are dreaming and how our habits of word use and thinking frame it, and Sagittarius North Node helping us to examine our beliefs about why things are the way they are.  We tend to think these mental habits are ‘real’, but the nodes here have provided experiences to loosen our usual hold on how we use our mental energies, and Jupiter with the South Node is here to help expand our limited thinking behavior and help us expand our world view to include the invisible, elemental world and to think in broader philosophical and global terms.  We are learning to be less attached to how things used to be and reframe how our world can be.

Because the Full Moon in Capricorn is conjunct Pluto, the powerful, collective square to Uranus in Aries is given added strength.  Pluto is calling out all that is hidden in the structures that we discussed above (the ancestral bone level) as well as the very structures of our society – the government, corporate, financial, economic policies and implementers (that are ruled by Capricorn).  Mainstream politics is looking absolutely pathetic these days.  The real changes are coming through grass root organizations working from their hearts to come together and create something fun, useful and beneficial for all.  That’s where the life and creative solutions reside.

Under the Pluto/Uranus influence, many have chosen to take on the task of deep shamanic and shadow work to do their personal part in facilitating the deep change that is taking place to increase our frequency here on the planet and move to a more heart-centered way of life.  Necessary deep healing work is being taken on by spiritual warriors to heal issues and energy held in the first three chakras with courageous results benefitting all.

Pallas Athena is conjunct Uranus who strives for freedom, revolutionary action, egalitarian principles and engages technology to connect us globally in an invisible electronic web.  P. Athena adds her creative intelligence, love of the arts and social justice to the mix.  The Sun opposite the Moon are pulled into a T-Square formation with Pluto and Uranus.  Just hours before Full Moon, Mars will finally move out of Virgo where it has resided for eight months and will enter Libra for seven weeks.  During that time, and especially around July 17 and 18th, Mars will be triggering the Pluto/Uranus square by forming a T-Square – fur may fly – Mars likes action and doesn’t shy away from conflict, although in Libra there is more chance of fairness and actual negotiation in a crisis.

Mid month-July 12th, we also have Uranus going retrograde until December.  Then July 14th Mercury goes retrograde also until August 7.  A time to regroup and reorient our thinking and tune in to inspiration from our inner sources.  Mercury in Leo often involves our true radiant selves, how we show up in the outer world, how our ego is helping or hindering our full expression.  Speak from your heart, walk a labyrinth holding a question and let inspiration answer, let your off-stage persona have some attention and quiet time.

Oh yes, the Finger of God formation….  It involves that same Mercury in Leo (not yet retrograde), The South Node/Jupiter (mentioned before as part of the Thor’s Hammer) and Moon/Pluto as the apex.  All these planets are involved in multiple major configurations ~ a highly orchestrated sacred geometry linking all the planets of the chart.  Quite beautiful and auspicious.  The Sun at this Full Moon also is aligned with the Sirius star system that many ancient cultures celebrated and revered.  That’s three in a row, the last three moons have been aligned with major star systems since the May 20th solar eclipse ~ The Pleiades, Betelgeuse in Orion and now Sirius.  A larger galactic grid is strengthening for our support and guidance.  Draw it down into your heart to create and envision new life.

Yes, there is chaos at all levels in this time of change.  Uranus rules chaos.  In these astrologically potent times, we are not experiencing Saturn’s linear ‘chronos time’, but ‘kairos’ time which means “the appointed time” an opportunity, possibly a time of crisis, time poignant with meaning, the opening between moments, with more power than normal, power to turn the course of events, create incredible outcomes.  That is what we are living through now in the next few years.  This chart of such subtle, powerful and intricately linked geometry bodes a very potent Full Moon.
Blessings on Us All.
