Shipibo Rattle - Butterfly
These hand-carved gourd rattles with the image of the Butterfly, also known as maracas, are beautifully crafted by the Shipibo tribe on the Amazon river in the jungles of Peru. The gourd is actually a large tree seed and the stick handle is made from the wood of the contaduro palm tree, decorated with parrot feathers. Each rattle is a ceremonial shamanic rattle also carved with protection icaros (song designs).
- Each rattle is always one-of-a-kind creation with its own unique sound. (Images are hand-carved and vary rattle to rattle)
- Carvings on each rattle may vary.
Butterfly Totem Medicine - Butterflies are the medicine of personal transformation, renewal and rebirth, a symbol of metamorphosis (from caterpillar to butterfly requires great resolve and release to become completely different, free, and reborn.) Butterflies are considered to be a symbol of the soul that is lighter, more elevated and less earthly.
Rattles are excellent shamanic tools to call in your allies, to call in good energy, and even to use in soul retrieval ceremonies. Rattles are also great cleaning and healing tools. Shake your rattle with clear intention to clear the space in a room, in your house or office, on your land, and most of all through your aura, or the energy field of another. Use with intention to journey inward for answers, as well as to collect lost soul parts.
