Katherine Skaggs

For more than four decades, I have explored the intersection of art, spirituality, healing, and human transformation. My work is devoted to helping people remember who they are at the level of soul and to live that knowing with greater clarity, creativity, and sovereignty. Through art, ceremony, intuitive guidance, and teaching, I support individuals in reconnecting with their inner authority, awakening their intuitive intelligence, and cultivating a living relationship with the sacred.

I am the internationally award-winning author of Artist Shaman Healer Sage, the artist and creator of the Mythical Goddess Tarot (with author Sage Holloway), and the author and artist of the Masters of Light Wisdom Oracle. As a soul painter, I have created over 3,000 Soul Portraits and Spirit Guide paintings for clients worldwide, each one emerging through an intuitive process that reveals the deeper essence, archetypal energies, and guidance present within the individual.

Alongside my artistic work, I have guided thousands of people through healing, mentorship, and spiritual guidance over more than thirty-five years.

I share this work through in-person events, writings, spiritual readings, soul portraits, sacred art, shamanic healing, books, oracle decks, and SoulWizdom Academy—an online space devoted to deepening the connection between soul and everyday life.

My approach is both mystical and grounded, guiding people to live it more consciously, creatively, and in alignment with their true nature. I guide others in reclaiming their intuition, awakening their creative spirit, and living from the deeper wisdom already within them.

At the heart of my work is a simple truth that we are each the artist of our own lives.

Katherine's Mission

I am here to help you remember who you truly are beneath the noise and expectations of the world. Through art, spiritual teaching, intuitive guidance, and sacred practices, I support you in reconnecting with the wisdom already living within you.

As I have walked this path, one truth has revealed itself again and again—Each of us carries a profound inner intelligence—one that knows how to guide, heal, and transform our lives. Yet most of us were never taught how to listen.

Modern life often pulls us away from our intuition and inner knowing, creativity, and connection to the deeper rhythms of being. It too often encourages us to rely only on intellect and linear timeliness, rather than soul rhythms and inner knowing.

My work is devoted to helping you access the guidance of your soul within your human experience. I am here to help you reconnect to your inner knowing, trust it, and weave it into daily life. I offer grounded, practical tools to help you live in alignment with that wisdom—so you can trust your inner voice, reclaim your creative power, and move through life with greater clarity, authenticity, and love.

Spiritual Journeys & Adventures

I have come to understand that spiritual adventure is not separate from my path of awakening—it is one of its most powerful catalysts. Through these journeys, I have activated deep layers of soul memory, met wisdom keepers from diverse traditions, and entered sacred sites and ceremonies not available within my everyday world. Each experience has arrived as an answer to prayer—a direct guidance into greater awareness, healing, and embodiment. In these places, I am reminded to listen more deeply—to the intelligence of the Earth, the memory held within ancient stone, and the living field of spirit that weaves through all cultures and time.

Most recently, in February 2025, I was guided to Egypt following a prayer to remember the fullness of my gifts. The journey led me through Luxor and its surrounding temple lands, into Abydos, Karnak, and the Valley of the Kings, and onward to the Giza plateau, where I spent time within the King’s Chamber of the Great Pyramid. There was a profound sense of recognition—an ancient familiarity that met me not as something new, but as something remembered. At 66, I found myself standing within one of the most sacred landscapes of my soul, receiving activation in a way that felt both timeless and deeply present.

Upon returning home, a new wave of creation began to move through me. Teachings and transmissions from the Divine Mother Sophia, along with the wisdom streams of Thoth, began to take form through my writing, artwork, and Soul Codex work. These have become the foundation for a new body of teachings devoted to the awakening of the Feminine Soul Body and the Rose Flame Codices. This work is now beginning to emerge through classes, writings, and a new online portal, with offerings unfolding throughout 2026 to support others in their own path of remembrance—no matter where they are in the world.

How I Got Here - Training Background

I did not begin my life in a spiritual world of metaphysics or shamanism. Rather I began in a conservative Baptist culture in Oklahoma. Yet, somehow, by age 13 I was reading the Tao de Ching and asking my mother about reincarnation. Her answer was "We are Baptist. We don't believe in that."

Yet something inside told me otherwise. In my mid-20s I was introduced to the concept of Mother Father God, channeling, and metaphysics while in art school in Kansas City. I watched a video on Ramtha, a popular transchanneled being by JZ Knight. Rather than think it odd, I found it truth-filled and fascinating. I went on to studying dreams, reading as many mystical books I could find, and indulging myself in the mystical when not painting.

Not long after graduation from art school I moved back to Oklahoma and found the School of Metaphysics. Over 3 and a half yearsI became a student, a teacher, and a Director of Schools. I spent a year of it at the College of Metaphysics and finished advanced studies in metaphysics, and help run the publishing arm of the school. I then came to Colorado to direct a struggling school. After two months I left and went on to open a metaphysical store named DreamWeaver from 1991 to 1997, and a second one from 2004-2005.

Spirit moved me through various rhythms of my life taking me where I needed to learn my soul lessons and access my gifts to give, but not always as expected, and not always with ease.

In 2006, I traveled to Europe with two 70-year old artists, scholars, and crone wisdom teachers Lydia Ruyle and Meinrad Craighead. They took us to sacred sites and gave us the back story of the Goddess in Rome and Paris pre-patriarchy. This experience profoundly deepened my connection to the Divine Feminine and led to my collaboration with Sage Holloway to create the Mythical Goddess Tarot, published in 2008.

2007 opened the doorway into shamanism. I began training with José Stevens and Lena Stevens through the Power Path School of Shamanism in New Mexico—first through workshops, then ceremonial practice, and eventually a two-year advanced international training program beginning in 2008. Prior to starting my two-year program I spent 3 weeks in Babaji's Ashram in Heidekhan, India deep in hindu practices to clean my soul and help me access more soul memory.

This work, along with ongoing study and ceremonial experience with wisdom keepers in the Peru (Andes and Jungles), Mexico, Europe, Egypt, and India, became a central thread in my ongoing spiritual path. Together with a lifetime of personal initiation, these experiences have shaped a body of work that bridges ancient wisdom traditions with modern consciousness.

The White Light Experience

While in the School of Metaphysics, in 1991, I became dismayed at the hierarchy of the school. I felt it was not aligned with the spiritual teachings, respect, and freedom in my experience at that time. I didn't know what to do, as I knew my spiritual path was the only path to follow. Yet without the school I did not have a structure for it and had no idea how to take my next step.

So I prayed about it . Soon after one of my students offered me a shamanic journey to help. I said, "Yes!" but had no idea what I was getting myself into.

I went to my student's house, had a cup of tea and talked about what was going to happen, then went to her spare bedroom and laid on the bed to journey. I closed my eyes and she began to guide me into a visual meditation-like experience. Nothing like what I know of shamanic journey today. I saw a hallway with doors, and opened a door to see a garden, all as clearly as I can see in daily life. I looked down and then saw a fairy angel and thought, "I would love to hug her." And with that I shrank to her size and we hugged—then I burst into light, the room was gone, and I was in pure light and God Consciousness. I was gone for 5 hours earth time. No awareness of my body. Only the awareness of profound Divine Love and Wisdom. That was the only answer no matter the queston.

The 3rd dimensional reality disappeared and the heavenly realm of wisdom and love were all that existed.

I felt a tug and I came back to my body after many hours. Looking at my watch, I told my friend I had to go! It was time to teach. As I drove away I noticed neon, psychedelic auras around all the trees and living things, as well as my students that night. This continued to for three days.

I understood after that experience there was nothing to worry about. I was to make my choices from that orientation in love. So I left the school in peace 2 weeks later and began to meditate on what was next.

That is when I was given the vision for creating my next step. I saw a colonial style white building and knew it was where my metaphysical store would be. The name DreamWeaver came. Within 12 months I gave birth to the DreamWeaver and the next adventure of my life.

Katherine Skaggs Soul Portrait

DreamWeaver & the Beginning of Soul Portraits

I followed that guidance and founded DreamWeaver, a spiritual gift shop and educational center that quickly grew beyond what I had imagined. What began as a 500-square-foot space expanded to 1,500 square feet within a year, and to 5,000 square feet over the next four years.

Thousands of people came through its doors seeking books, crystals, classes, intuitive guidance, and a place to feel seen, supported, and inspired. It became a true community of healing and transformation.

During this same period, I felt a growing call to bring my art into my spiritual path. I sold visionary artwork of Susan Sedon Boulet and Alex Gray (and others) in calendars and art books. After long days at the store, I would return home to paint, asking Spirit for vision, insight, and inspiration to move through me. I would intuitively paint faces on canvas and often ask, "Are you one of my guides."

Then one day while working in the store, I heard the words clearly within me, almost as if shouted, "SOUL PORTRAITS!" I instantly knew exactly what it meant.

I understood that I was being called to merge my intuitive sight, inner knowing, and empathic awareness with my ability to paint a reflection of another soul—to help them SEE themselves beyond the mirror, to SEE they were amazing, light, soul, and beautiful beyond the human experience. This was to help them return home to themselves, so they could ground it in their human lives.

That moment marked the beginning of what would become my Soul Portrait work, a path that continues to unfold today as I help others see and remember the truth of who they are.

AND it scared me to death, that I would have to be the intuitive in the hot seat, painting their soul and channeling guidance. Though it marked the beginning of my awareness of what was ahead, it took me a while to embody one-on-one soul portrait and spirit guide painting work for others. And now I look back and laugh, as it is the most wonderful experience and blessing I could give, and receive at the same time. To date I have painted more than 3000 soul portraits and spirit guide paintings.

Babaji's Calling - Answers to prayers

In 2007, during Thanksgiving, I offered a very sincere prayer asking to be released from suffering and to understand my life more deeply. Not long after that prayer, a series of mystical events began to unfold that guided me—quite unexpectedly—to travel to India. I had never planned to go there, yet the call felt unmistakable. Trusting that guidance led me to Avatar Babaji’s ashram in the Himalayan foothills of northern India in the spring of 2008.

I arrived during the sacred festival of Navaratri, a ten-day celebration honoring the Divine Mother. Each day began before dawn with bathing rituals, devotional singing, temple ceremonies, fire offerings, and time spent along the banks of the Ganges River. Though the culture and surroundings were very different from life in the United States, I felt a deep and surprising sense of familiarity there—as if something ancient in my soul recognized the land and the practices.

During my time at the ashram I participated in a ceremonial head-shaving ritual called mundon, symbolizing the release of past karma and attachments. I knelt in humility before an elder who had served Babaji for many years, as he shaved my head, releasing the hair onto a banana leaf.. Afterward I entered the Ganges River in prayer, releasing the banana leaf and hair down the river, knowing I was stepping into a new chapter of my spiritual life.

There were many powerful moments on that journey, from Hindu Fire Ceremonies to an unexpected encounter holding a cobra, that felt less like fear and more like meeting a profound embodiment of sacred, Divine Mother power. Experiences like these touched something deep within me and opened the door to memories, healing, and a sense of soul recognition I had never known before.

That journey to India became the beginning of a much larger path.

Soon after returning, I entered a two-year international program in multicultural shamanism that took me to sacred lands throughout the Andes, the jungles of Peru, the Huichol peyote lands of Mexico, and Native lands across the United States.

Early Life — Before Metaphysics and Shamanism

As I said earlier, I did not begin life in a spiritual family who passed on the loving, spiritual teachings I am guided by now, to live in love, truth, and peace.

I was a sensitive child, not always fitting in, or feeling like I belonged. Growing up Baptist I recalled going to church and understanding the hypocrisy there, that words did not match how people acted or spoke or lived their lives. The hell, fire, and damnation in the church particularly was difficult to understand and was truly frightening.

And, yet, amidst this lack of coherence, I was clearly aligned with Jesus and his teachings. His were truth, love, reciprocity, forgiveness, mercy, and kindness to a stranger or an enemy. These Universal Laws and Truths have carried me into Buddhism, Hinduism, Shamanism, Paganism, and all cultures of spirituality that are not religions. Rather they are harmonic spiritual guidelines for living in harmony with Creation, in Heaven and on Earth.

This has offered healing to "Little Kathy" as well as the adult Katherine spiritual teacher, and those she offers teachings that empower, bring one home to love and to truth in love.

Nature – Sanctuary

The Farm

The true sanctuary growing up was the farm we had 45 minutes away from Oklahoma City in Wellston, Oklahoma. We had horses, cattle, a huge garden, and outdoor space. The parents didn't fight there, my brothers didn't taunt me there. We all came together to work the land, to plant the guardan, to till the soil, and to harvest. This was peace. This made sense.

Looking back I realize this was my first connection to shamanism. Perhaps I did not have a shamanic teacher or shaman near. But I knew it energetically. I knew it in that we were more harmonious on the land. We were more united, living more as a family unit. The land was healing. It was both expansive and somehow gave us focus.

With what I know from sitting with shamans around the world now, I can tell you that land washed us of our angst, of our separation, of our negative energies. It gave us life force and roots we did not have in the city.

Child Artist

I have been an artist since I was a small child, as you can see from this photo taken when I was only 3 years of age! I began drawing as soon as a crayon was offered up! Animals and portraits were my greatest interest. I copied and replicated them on paper, with color, and with great love.

At age 14 I began oil painting, and later learned watercolor at age 19. Though I was a 'good' artist, I was never encouraged to follow that calling as a profession, as it was not a real job.

So my first college degree was in health and education. Later my mid-20s I left Oklahoma to finish a painting degree at Kansas City Art Institute. I had no idea what to do with the degree once I got out.

I was in my 30s when I began to integrate my artistry with my spiritual path and expression, giving birth to soul portraits, spirit guide paintings, and channelings of Divine Beings. This is when life began to align and integrate into my purpose, and my joy.
