Create Your Own 18" Hand Drum in Sacred Ceremony
Join this Make Your Own 18" Hand Drum workshop and craft a powerful instrument of the heart in an ancient, ceremonial way. From the very beginning, you step into a guided process that honors ancestral traditions.
As you move through the day, you will create your own 18" rawhide drum and drum beater. At the same time, you will call in the spirit of your drum and infuse it with intention, prayer, and presence.
A Ceremonial Drum-Making Experience
This workshop includes all materials and hands-on guidance to complete your drum. Throughout the experience, you actively engage in:
- Sacred prayer and intention setting
- Smudging and energetic clearing
- Direct connection to the spirit of your drum
- Step-by-step drum construction in the ancient style
As a result, your drum becomes more than an instrument—it becomes a living ally you can work with.
The Power of the Drum
The ancient hand drum supports healing, rhythm, and connection. For example, you can use your drum for:
- Shamanic journeying and meditation
- Energy clearing and grounding
- Connecting with spirit guides and totem animals
- Opening the heart and restoring inner harmony
In addition, drumming shifts your awareness out of the analytical mind. Instead, it brings you into a calm, intuitive state connected to the heart.
Choose Your Drum Hide
Choosing your rawhide is part of the sacred process. Therefore, select the animal energy you feel most aligned with:
- Bison – Strength, abundance, grounding, and connection to Earth
- Elk – Stamina, protection, and heart-centered guidance (ideal for beginners)
- Horse – Freedom, courage, movement, and spiritual power
In addition, your drum includes:
- Maple hoop – Strength and endurance
- Alder beater – Determination and inner confidence
What to Bring
To prepare for the workshop, please bring:
- Old towel (for handling wet hide)
- Hammer
- Pliers
- Scissors
- Drinking water
- Snacks (hands will be busy)
- An open and curious mindset
By the end of the workshop, you will leave with a completed 18" hand drum and drum beater.
