Each designated Saturday Meeting we will gather in a safe, ceremonial space for learning universal shamanic wisdom and practices, drum journeying, soul remembering, and creating shamanic tools. We will also meet virtually on Zoom once monthly at an agreed upon evening time for teleconference and check-in, to maintain and ground our teachings into our every day life, to build community and to gain support. Your zoom calls are equally important as the Saturday sessions. Please plan on them too.
The content of the course will include foundational Shamanic teachings, the wisdom of the Medicine Wheel, and shamanic practices for living life empowered and awakened, AND making your own shamanic tools! You will receive everything you need to shape shift your life into greater harmony and empowerment for a joyful life.

It is time for our harvest, our completion, graduation and honoring of the hard work and play we have put in learning together, creating tribe together, and preparing to move to the next level of experience in our lives. Plan on an all day affair, to recap your learning and use of your tools, to give gratitude, and to celebrate.
The morning will be set aside to honor our tools and what they have taught us so far, as well as how else we may take them into our personal practices, and any offerings we may choose to offer others.
Graduation DespachoIn the afternoon we will work with the Andean Medicine Ritual of a Despacho. This ceremonial ritual will be dedicated to the blessings for each student and the clan of your 2024 Artist Shaman Healer Sage as you go into the world. It will be a time for each student to offer blessings to each tribe mate in the ceremony, and to make an offering to Pachamama for the blessings to bring harmony to our clan and to all of our kin on earth.
Let's celebrate! You will bring some food to share with your tribe at lunch as you celebrate your transformation and honor one another.

The application process is really very simple for you to enroll and learn profound teachings in shamanism. I am accepting students who are interested in the subject matter and course work.

There is nothing terribly rigorous about this shamanic course. However, you do need to be able to walk at least a mile on the flat lands in Colorado. It is also best if you are able to do short hikes in the foothills near Katherine's home. There will be a few short morning outings to be in nature, to gather her wisdom, energy, and often times found items. First class (weather permitting) there is a morning outing for some of the teachings and experiences. Other classes will have similar teaching opportunities outside when possible. Some may be in Katherine's backyard, some in the foothills.
Classes are held at Katherine Skaggs' studio in foothills in Fort Collins, Colorado. We meet each month on the day indicated on this event page. Doors open at 8:30am. You are encouraged to come between 8:30 and 8:45am so we can begin promptly at 9am each month. We are complete by 6pm that same day.

On October 21st, the Moon renews herself at 28° Libra, calling us into the heart of balance, beauty, and relational harmony. This New Moon arrives as a moment of pause before the intensity of Scorpio season, offering a breath of fresh air to reset our intentions and re-weave our commitments to love, justice, and truth in relationship.
Libra is the sign of the scales—the archetype that seeks to bring opposites into a living dance of equilibrium. Under this lunation, the soul is invited to review the places where imbalance has drained us, where false harmony has kept us silent, or where surface beauty has masked deeper truth. This is not about plastering peace over conflict, but about courageously engaging with what restores authentic harmony.

The Inspiration for Swords of Light
I've been interested in working with crystals for many years, trying to find a way to harness their powerful, healing energies. One day during a healing fair, I observed an energy worker using a piece of selenite on a man's leg. When I inquired about her process, she explained that the selenite crystal was projecting a stream of light into the man's leg, repairing an injury on the energetic level.
From that moment on I dove in head first, researching anything I could find on selenite to create a tool that would harness the true power of this crystal. I also wanted to create something I could easily get into the hands of others to assist the planet. Join in a ceremonial wisdom circle on the Winter's Solstice, to move from the cycle of Autumn into Winter. This Solstice is a time of harvesting the fruits of our labors, a time to be thankful and celebrate what has come our way over the past cycles, and a time to die to the outer cycle of growth. It will be a time to honor the cyclical movement inward into rest and regeneration. We are here to honor the reflective time of moving inward as the Sun moves farther away from Mother Earth, and there is more darkness in the cycle of Winter.
To begin our time together, you will be energetically cleaned with sacred smudge and flower water. We then gather around the altar in prayer and intention, calling in our allies of the directions, the elementals, our ancestors and spirit helpers.
Bring an offering for the altar that represents your gratitude, abundance, and time of movement within. You can take with you once you return home. Photos of family and loved ones, small statues of deities you work with, altar cards, stones/crystals, etc. are all perfect to fill the altar with love
Cacao Ceremony toDeepen your experience with a sacred cacao ceremony, honoring your heart and ancient traditions. Cacao is considered the medicine of the Gods. In this ceremony you will be given the opportunity to awaken love within your heart, bring healing to your body, guiding your wisdom and inspiring you to live from your heart. Angie Katz will be serving Cacao from the Boto Tribe in Costa Rica. They are a matriarchal tribe who honors the Cacao as the great mother.
Fire Ceremony and OfferingsWe will join together in a fire ceremony (weather permitting) to release the past days and months of our last cycles, and to purify ourselves in the energy of the fire. Katherine will lead you in this powerful shamanic ceremony to let go of the old and to bring in the new.
Winter Solstice marks the passing of the old year and the beginning of the new, from the elemental perspective of this Solstice being the shortest day of the year, with light returning afterwards. This can be a meaningful ceremony and time to release the old and prepare for the new light that begins to emerge post Solstice. Katherine will lead you in ceremony for transformation, honoring all that has been, and all that will be dreamed into being.
**Bring items to throw in the fire that represent things you are letting go of and what you are calling forth anew (must be made of natural, non-toxic items.) Suggestions are an acorn, a twig decorated with holly or other leaves, cedar, ever green, written notes of release, cotton rope (representing any cords you are letting go of), spices, dried flowers, dried fruit, etc.)
